VenueYour interpretation budget is largely determined by whether the team can be composed of interpreters located in or around the conference venue. For conferences held outside Buenos Aires, the client will bear travel and accommodation expenses and a daily subsistence allowance for any day spent away from Buenos Aires. LanguagesIt is essential that you know at the very start of the process which languages will be spoken (source languages) and into which languages (target languages) interpretation is necessary, especially if many languages are involved. Subject matterIt is important that you have a clear picture of the topics that will be dealt with and who will be speaking at the event, so that you get the interpreters with the right profile. Conference scheduleFor quality and health reasons, interpreters do not normally work in excess of two 3-hour sessions, interrupted by breaks. Session length can of course be extended, provided that the team strength is increased. Simultaneous Interpretation equipmentYou should enquire whether the conference venue has built-in simultaneous interpretation booths or whether it will be necessary to rent mobile booths. Interpretation booths should be in proper conditions. Faulty booths significantly affects the interpreters’ performance, especially if poor ventilation and sound quality is the problem.
