Administrative Law

Hardly a day passes that one does not hear someone inveigh against the government’s intrusion into our daily lives. The government is the myriad bureaucratic agencies that we encounter in some form or other in almost every facet of our lives. Whether as consumers or as suppliers of some factor of production, each of us is affected in profound and often subtle ways by the regulations promulgated by government agencies.

In this course, we will focus on the operation of administrative agencies and on the administrative process in general. In so doing, we will pay particular attention to the agencies’ rulemaking powers as well as to the political and judicial control over administrative agencies’ power.
