Constitutional Law
All about the Supreme Law of the Land
This program explores the legal framework of the fundamental relationships within our society: relationships among the states, the states and the federal government, the three branches (The Executive, The Legislative, and The Judiciary) of the federal government, and the rights of individuals in relation to both federal and state government.
The focus will be on gaining a deep understanding of the basic principles that shape and govern the American political system and the mechanisms designed to prevent power abuse by the three branches of government. Special attention will also be devoted to a thorough analysis of fundamental constitutional rights, such as the freedom of religion, the freedom of speech, the right to assemble, the protection against unlawful searches and seizures, the right to a speedy trial, and the protection against cruel punishment.
